Celebrating Excellence in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM)

We are thrilled to announce that our leader at Chi Animal Hospital, Dr. Terri Rosado, has been awarded Outstanding Achievement in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) by the World Association of TCVM. This prestigious recognition highlights not only her dedication, but also her expertise in this holistic medical system.

What is Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine?

Historical Roots and Philosophy

TCVM is an adaptation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for animals, with roots tracing back thousands of years in China. It is based on Daoist philosophy, viewing the body as a microcosm of the universe, governed by cosmic laws and forces like Qi and Yin-Yang.

Holistic Approach

TCVM focuses on diagnosing disease through identifying patterns of disharmony, considering the whole patient, including temperament and environment. It comprises five main modalities: acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tui-na (massage), food therapy, and husbandry/lifestyle.

Integration with Western Medicine

While TCVM excels in treating chronic conditions with minimal side effects, it is often used alongside Western Veterinary Medicine for a comprehensive approach to animal health.

This award for Dr. Rosado underscores Chi Animal Hospital’s commitment to providing integrative veterinary care that combines the best of Eastern and Western practices for the well-being of all animals.
